Your application for panel membership includes accreditation to the panel until the end of the first membership year. A membership year runs from 1 July to 30 June. For example, if you joined the Panel in December 2014 you are deemed to be accredited until June 2015 and you will not be required to file a declaration until the end of June 2016.

Members of the NZLS Panel of Mediators need to meet membership and ongoing practice requirements to retain their accredited status. Panel members also need to retain their professional association with NZLS and its Family Law Section and have in place appropriate professional supervision arrangements in line with the NZLS Guidelines on Professional Supervision.

During each membership year, you will need to complete at least 15 hours of mediation practice (with a minimum of 10 hours being family specific). Mediation practice means acting as the mediator or co-mediator in a mediation.

You will need to file an annual return and declaration before the end of each membership year, or when you renew your membership.
