About the role
We are seeking an exceptional candidate to join the Southern team in the Lawyers Complaints Service (LCS). Professional Standards Administrators perform a key role in supporting Professional Standards Officers and providing secretarial and administration support to them and lawyers standards committees, as well as assisting in the coordination and processing of complaints made to the LCS about lawyers.

Reporting to the Southern Team Leader, this position is responsible for assisting the Law Society to meet its statutory obligations as required by the Lawyers and Conveyancers Act 2006 (the Act). As such, the work is challenging, varied, and fast-paced, and requires a high level of judgement. This is a permanent part-time position based in the Canterbury-Westland (Christchurch) Branch of the New Zealand Law Society. This position is 18.75 hours per week.

The ideal applicant will have:

  • Legal knowledge, or experience working in a legal environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office suite proficiency
  • Intermediate Adobe Acrobat Pro proficiency
  • Information gathering and information monitoring skills
  • Problem analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Great attention to detail and accuracy
  • Flexibility and the ability to be adaptable to new tasks, new technologies and new ways of working.
