About the role

Our Registry Administrators carry out a range of administrative tasks relating to the maintenance of lawyers’ practising certificates and ensuring public register information is accurate and up-to-date. They play a key role by interacting with members of the profession through various enquiries and ensuring they are meeting their obligations.

Our Registry team are responsible for the issuing and maintenance of lawyers’ practising certificates, New Zealand Law Society associate and section membership and contributing to the monitoring, regulating, and enforcing the rules that apply to lawyers and the way they practice law.
You will be working within a small, interactive team. The work is varied and fast-paced and requires a high level of judgment.

This is a 12-month fixed term contract to cover parental leave. The role will begin in the new year, on Monday 20 January 2025.

What you’ll bring:

  • Flexible, organised, and able to prioritise your workload easily.
  • Strong empathy skills.
  • Proficient in MS Outlook and good understanding of Word, Excel and Adobe Acrobat office tools.
  • Ability to quickly adapt and learn new computer/office systems.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Sound written and oral communication skills.
  • Willingness to work as a team member, and independently as required.
  • Good judgement and a high level of discretion.

The Law Society regulates all lawyers practising in New Zealand and is the membership organisation for practising lawyers. With 13 branches throughout the country, the Law Society is the Kaitiaki (guardian) of the practice of law in Aotearoa New Zealand and the consumers of legal services.
