This week the New Zealand Law Society | Te Kāhui Ture o Aotearoa welcomed its new Chief Executive, Joanna Simon. Joanna joins us from DLA Piper New Zealand, where she was Chief Operating Officer.
Joanna lives in Auckland but will be dividing her time between the Wellington and Auckland offices. This is the first time the Law Society has had an Auckland-based Chief Executive.
“We are fortunate to have someone of Joanna’s calibre taking the reins as Chief Executive,” said Law Society President Tiana Epati.
“She brings a wealth of experience from her previous roles, including leadership of a large executive team, strong communication skills and an in-depth knowledge of modern legal practice. I am looking forward to working with her.”
Speaking near the end of her first day Joanna said: “After nearly 11 years working in the legal profession for global law firm DLA Piper, I am delighted to be here at the Law Society and to progress the many opportunities to influence change within the profession.”
