New Zealand Law Society - Legal salary survey underway

Legal salary survey underway

This article is over 3 years old. More recent information on this subject may exist.

The New Zealand Law Society and legal recruitment specialist Niche Consulting Group are carrying out a legal salary of employed lawyers in law firms and working in-house.

An invitation to participate was emailed to over 7,500 lawyers on 8 August.

The objective of the survey is to provide both employers and their employees with a picture of legal salaries and other remuneration by time in practice, location and size of enterprise. Results will be freely available after analysis has been completed.

Information provided in the survey - which takes around five minutes - will be analysed by Niche. All information will be kept completely confidential and the data collected will be used for the sole purpose of research into legal salaries in New Zealand.

A power outage affecting the collection server just as the survey was emailed out caused problems for some participants. Things are now working well and anyone who was unable to complete their survey is invited to try again.

Inquiries and information on the link for employed lawyers who were not included in the invitation can be made to geoff.adlam@lawsociety.org.nz.
