The New Zealand Law Society has been invited to recommend a young French-speaking lawyer to participate in the Stage International traineeship, an annual event organised by the Order des avocats de Paris.

Run every October and November, the courses are totally funded by the Paris Bar. Trainees are responsible for travel costs, accommodation and living expenses in Paris.

Participants attend courses in October on the French legal system, legal ethics and legal procedures. These are held at the Ecole de Formation du Barreau which trains lawyers in Paris. In November they are given practical experience in a French law firm.

Applicants for selection must have a current New Zealand practising certificate, be fluent in French, be aged under 40, and be covered by legal liability insurance.

Applications may be submitted until 5pm on 28 July 2016 to bronwyn.jones@lawsociety.org.nz. Applicants are required to provide a CV in English and French, cover letter in English and French, photograph, copy of passport and a copy of a current New Zealand practising certificate.
