Justice Minister Amy Adams has released information showing that 14 people who had been on bail at the time were convicted of murder between 2012 and 2014.
She provided in the information in response to a parliamentary question for written answer from New Zealand First MP Rt Hon Winston Peters.
Ms Adams says defendants who were not convicted may still have been convicted of a lesser offence (such as manslaughter) in relation to the murder charge. The data is considered provisional.
