The New Zealand Lawyers and Conveyancers Disciplinary Tribunal considered the case against Susan Barbara Lewis to be highly unusual.
It says the evidence of the two deponents relied on by the Standards Committee was so unreliable and unsafe that the tribunal found there was no case to answer.
The New Zealand Law Society was ordered to pay $5,495 in costs to Ms Lewis and to also pay the costs of the hearing, which totalled $10,240.
