End of year reminders from Registry
The Registry Team have some important reminders for practising lawyers. The Registry Team will not be available from midday Friday, 23 December 2022 until 8.30am Monday, 9 January 2023.
Please make sure that any applications for practising fee refunds are sent to the Registry Team as soon as possible. After 1 January 2023, refunds will be calculated from the date the application is received by the Registry Team or from the date that the lawyer’s employment ceases – whichever is later.
Applications for fee refunds must still be completed by the practising certificate holder, but these forms can now be emailed to the Registry Team, rather than being posted in hardcopy. We hope this will speed up the fee refund process and avoid any applications being lost in transit.
Please take a minute to check that your email address is recorded correctly in Registry. Your email address needs to be up-to-date so you can use the 'forgotten password' function to log-in and to make sure that you receive important reminders about regulatory deadlines such as renewing your practising certificate. You can login to Registry at any time to change your personal contact details, but if you are changing employers you will need to complete the Change of details form as soon as possible. This is required by r 11 Lawyers and Conveyancers Act (Lawyers: Practice Rules) Regulations.
Did you know that you can change your areas of practice and whether these are visible to people that are using our website to find a lawyer? To make any changes, login to Registry, select 'Update your statistics' and tick or untick your areas of practice. If you want these to be visible to the public, make sure that 'Show areas of practice on Public Register' has been ticked.
If you are a sole practitioner, this might be a good time to check-in with your attorneys. If any changes of attorney are needed, please let the Registration Team know.
