Auckland lawyer Niamh McMahon has been appointed Honorary Consul General for Ireland in New Zealand.
Ms McMahon, who is a partner with law firm McMahon Butterworth Thompson, succeeds Rodney Walshe who retired in March 2015.
Born in Dublin, Ms McMahon grew up in Clonmel, County Tipperary. She was admitted as a barrister and solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand in October 1987.
Ms McMahon has worked closely with the Honorary Consul General for Ireland in Auckland and with other organisations including the Ireland Fund of New Zealand, Enterprise Ireland NZ, and the Irish Business network NZ.
