Gary Hughes has commenced practice as a barrister, helping to establish the new Akarana Chambers in Auckland.

Gary has 21 years experience providing advocacy and strategic risk advice. He specialises in regulatory investigations, disputes, and approvals  and contract, commercial, insurance and financial services cases.  

Gary was previously a partner at leading boutique firm Wilson Harle, and his experience includes large national (Chapman Tripp) and UK/global firms (Clyde & Co).

He has been listed by leading lawyer guides in several practice areas, including Chambers Asia-Pacific, Legal 500 Asia, AsiaLaw Profiles, Who's Who Legal.

Garyis an honorary life member of LEANZ (Law & Economics Association), and is NZ Programme Director for ACAMS (a global AML body) and the IBA's Anti-Corruption NZ Officer.
