Joanna Hayward has been appointed General Counsel to the Privacy Commissioner as the Office prepares for the enactment of new privacy law later this year.
Joanna has been acting in the role since September 2019, after joining OPC in 2014. She was formerly an adviser to the Law Commission on information law reform projects including the law of privacy, official information, search and surveillance, harmful digital communications and news media. She is a graduate of Canterbury University and is an experienced practitioner in public, commercial and banking law.
