Judge McIlraith appointed Acting Employment Court Judge

Judge Richard John McIlraith has been appointed as an Acting Judge of the Employment Court.

The appointment is for a two-year term from 21 August 2017. Judge McIlraith will continue in his current role as a District Court Judge at Manukau and will sit in the Employment Court by agreement between the two Heads of Bench.

Judge McIlraith was appointed a District Court Judge and sworn in on 24 February 2016. He was admitted to the Bar in 1988 and practised at Russell McVeagh from 1993, being appointed to the partnership in 1995.

Judge McIlraith practised mainly in the employment law area but was also been involved in general commercial litigation, health and safety, immigration, family and criminal law matters.
