Julie Maxton has joined Auckland's Bankside Chambers as an associate member.

Dr Maxton's academic career saw her on the academic staff of the University of Canterbury and University of Auckland, where she was apopinted a Professor of Law in 1993 and was Dean of the Faculty of Law between 2000 and 2005.

From 2006 to 2011 Dr Maxton was Registrar of the University of Oxford and also a Fellow of University College, Oxford. She was appointed Executive Director of the Royal Society in 2011.
