Ruth Thomas joins Walker Street Chambers as a barrister with a focus on Inquiry work, criminal law and advocacy training. Ruth is based in Nelson and is currently appointed as a counsel assisting the Royal Commission of Inquiry into Abuse in Care, leading the investigation into disabled people’s experiences of abuse in care. Ruth takes private instructions on criminal legal matters and is an approved legal aid provider for all levels of criminal work. Ruth has 16 years legal experience, previously working as a Crown Prosecutor and as a Senior Police Prosecutor.

Anna Price joins Walker Street Chambers as an employed barrister. Anna previously worked for the Police Prosecution Service in Counties Manukau and Christchurch. She studied law and history at Victoria University and was admitted in June 2019. Prior to admission she clerked for Barristers.Comm Chambers in Wellington doing work in employment and civil litigation. Anna works in employment, civil litigation and privacy and continues to work in criminal litigation.

Aja Trinder joins Walker Street Chambers as an employed barrister with a focus on criminal litigation. For the past five years, Aja has worked as a Senior Police Prosecutor in Christchurch. Prior to that, Aja worked as a Crown Prosecutor and as a defence lawyer with the Public Defence Service, respectively. She studied Law and Classics at the University of Canterbury and currently serves as the Ōtautahi representative on the executive of Te Hunga Rōia Māori o Aotearoa (The Maori Law Society).
