Auckland barrister Royden Hindle has been elected the new president of the Arbitrators' and Mediators' Institute of New Zealand.

Mr Hindle is a member of Bankside Chambers and practises as an arbitrator, commercial mediator, construction adjudicator, facilitator and (occasionally) as an advocate.

He was admitted as a barrister and solicitor in March 1983 and moved to the independent bar in 1996. He also teaches dispute resolution at AUT University, and will continue in the role of AMINZ Director of Professional Studies.

Nicola Harfield. 

Nicola Harfield has been elected AMINZ Vice-President.

Ms Harfield is a former hospital-based social worker who mediates disputes in the workplace, community and in families. She also teaches mediation skills nationally and internationally.

AMINZ's seven-member board also includes former High Court Judge, Hon Paul Heath, QC, and family mediator Ngarongo Ormsby — both of them also newly elected — along with incumbents Sophie East, Mark Kelly and Nicole Smith.
