Hours for the Wellington Library are 8.30am to 4.30pm. Access at other times is by swipe card only or by arrangement.

The Wellington Library is located in the Wellington High Court building, Kate Sheppard Place entrance. (location map).
We are staffed 8.30am–4.30pm Mon–Fri.
Access from Kate Sheppard Place is available 8.30am–5.00pm Mon–Fri, and after-hours access via the same door is also available outside those hours with a door access card.
Apply for a door card by filling in this application form and emailing it to wellington@nzlslibrary.org.nz.
After-hours (including weekends) the lights may be switched off. The lights are on 30 minute timers and are activated by sensors as you move around the Library.
All library content, and its location, can be found in the Library catalogue on the computers.
Contents pages of the latest journals and new books are displayed by the stairs.
Closed Reserve material is shelved in the Library workroom and will need to be signed for.
Use the library catalogue to find journals and reports by title; it gives the bay number for each one.
The Law Society Library also has an extensive online collection of databases, some of which are only available from the Wellington High Court location. Three computers are available for practitioners to use to access these databases.

The Library has a photocopier/printer available for use. Instructions on how to use this are located by the photocopier.
Lawyers can access Library subscription databases on their own devices when working in the Library, via the NZLS Library wifi network. PDFs can be saved to these devices, however printing via WiFi is not currently available.
Gowns for Court use can be hired from the Library daily or for extended periods (25% discount for more than 10 working days). We advise booking in advance.
Wellington Library has a meeting room available for hire for the day or less. The meeting room seats six around a table and up to nine.
Cost is $100 plus GST per day.
There are a number of desks located around the Library.
The Library also has a small meeting room which can be booked for use, or may be available on request for short periods of time.
The Library has a small kitchen which has tea and coffee making facilities. Additionally there is a microwave, toaster and fridge.
