We have an opportunity for an experienced lawyer to join our market leading Financial Services team, based in Christchurch. The opportunity

With a primary focus on providing advice to both domestic and offshore financial institutions, regulators, FinTech enterprises and other financial service providers, you'll cover a comprehensive range of areas. This includes funds management, financial product design, financial product and conduct legislation (both retail and wholesale), licensing and prudential supervision requirements, AML/CFT compliance, CCCFA, mortgagee sales, and creditor enforcement regulation.  There may also be an opportunity to be involved in banking and finance transactional work including property and leveraged finance arrangements for a range of clients.

What matters to us

We are looking for outstanding candidates who have a keen interest in this area of law and who are eager to learn, grow, and do high-quality legal work for our longstanding clients.  To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

• 3 to 6 years' PQE to join us as a Solicitor or Senior Solicitor.
• 7 to 10 years' PQE to join us as a Senior Associate.
• Legal experience gained in either financial services regulatory, financial markets, or banking and finance fields, with at least some of that experience gained in New Zealand.
• Worked within a private practice, in-house, or accounting/consulting firm environment.
• Strong academic ability, with a willingness to tackle complex issues and the ability to think critically.
• The ability to learn quickly, work with others seamlessly and draft to a high degree of quality.
