About the role:

Due to an internal promotion, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Legal Advisor, ideally with a strong background in the Resource Management Act (RMA) to join our dynamic team. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on environmental and resource management while contributing to the broader legal needs of the Council.

As a Senior Legal Advisor, you will provide expert legal advice across a broad range of areas including local government law, environmental and resource management, public and administrative law, dispute resolution, litigation, commercial, contract and procurement matters, property law and a whole host of other challenging issues that fall within Council's functions.

About you:

As a qualified and experienced lawyer, you will have exceptional problem-solving skills alongside excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Your ability to work effectively under pressure to apply initiative and good judgement and prioritize tasks efficiently will be key. Additionally, your ability to provide comprehensive and timely legal advice with an understanding of broader implications is essential.

We especially want to hear from applicants with a strong background in the Resource Management Act.

Having experience in local or central government will be advantageous but not essential. You must also be eligible to hold a practicing certificate.

You can expect the starting base salary to be within the range of $118,350 - $131,500 and a 7% benefits package entitlement. Renumeration will be based on skills and experience.
