About the role
National Infrastructure Funding and Financing (NIFF) has a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Legal Counsel to join their Auckland CBD based team and play a key role in delivering critical infrastructure solutions across Aotearoa. This is a varied role offering quality work and opportunities to make a meaningful impact on projects that benefit communities nationwide.

As Senior Legal Counsel, you will provide expert legal advice to key stakeholders, ensuring the successful delivery of public-private partnerships (PPPs) and other infrastructure funding and financing transactions. You will thrive in a dynamic environment, developing your professional skillset across complex capital market transactions, financial structuring, procurement frameworks, and corporate governance matters.

What we’re looking for:

• A smart savvy lawyer with a minimum 8 years’ PQE experience who holds a current NZ legal practising certificate.
• Experience in project finance, construction law, or major infrastructure projects. Experience with public-private partnerships is advantageous
• A confident communicator with ability to build strong relationships & engage with stakeholders at all levels
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills, with attention to detail
• Strong commercial acumen and the ability to manage complex, high-value transactions
• A pragmatic, proactive professional who can work autonomously and collaboratively within a team environment
• Experience working with government agencies, local authorities, iwi, and private sector partners is highly desirable
