About the role

Partners Life is seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join their dynamic legal team based in Takapuna. Working closely with the General Counsel and one other Senior Legal Counsel, this key role will suit a corporate, commercial or financial services lawyer and involves a broad range of work such as:

• Providing expert legal advice on corporate, commercial, and regulatory matters
• Supporting governance and secretariat as needed
• Supporting constructive relationships with regulators, industry bodies and other stakeholders
• Playing a crucial role in developing and executing risk management, legal, and compliance strategies to support strategic and operational goals

This role is offered as a full-time permanent position with hybrid working + flexibility.  4 days per week will be considered for the right person. 

What we’re looking for:

• A skilled lawyer with 10 years’ + PQE in corporate, commercial and/or financial services within a top-tier law firm or financial services organisation in NZ, and a current NZ legal practising certificate.
• Extensive experience in commercial contracts, corporate governance, and financial services legal and regulatory advisory matters
• In-depth understanding of New Zealand’s financial services legal and regulatory framework
• A strategic thinker with a keen understanding of commercial objectives
• Exceptional communication skills and a track record of establishing trusted relationships
• Integrity, energy, and enthusiasm for contributing to the goals and success
