Being a new lawyer can be daunting.  It may be tempting to think "I'll just keep my head down and try to survive until I find my feet."  Many new lawyers enter the sector with a mindset of "I will aim to thrive, not just survive." Find out how below.

Get involved:  

  • Participate in your workplace
  • Be willing to help with files
  • Join a committee - social or work
  • Join social groups and sports teams
  • Take part in mentoring programmes
  • Be active in your local branch

Balance:   

  • Balance your work and personal life
  • It's okay to set healthy boundaries

Don't try to be something you're not:

  • Bring your whole self to work
  • Maintain your core values and beliefs

Have fun:   

  • Approach work life with an open, positive mindset
  • Face challenges with positivity and good humour
